Aphrodite Hills, is a luxury golf and spa resort on the west coast of Cyprus.  I arrived early in the evening after a very comfortable flight out to Larnaca with Cyprus airways.

The sun was just setting as we drove up to the sumptuous 5 star Intercontinental hotel in the heart of the resort.  Entering the hotel was like entering an oasis of luxurious calm.  My room was merely an extension of this, beautifully appointed with a huge marble bathroom, the most comfortable bed imaginable, and great little extras that make all the difference – like a light that comes on when you open the wardrobe door – marvellous.

Following the feast that was breakfast the following morning, I was straight out on to the canopied golf driving range.  All equipment is available to hire, and professionals are on hand for tuition if required.  The golf facility extends to a 3 hole academy course, a chipping and putting practice area,  and a magnificent 18 hole championship course built around an amazing ravine.   The signature 7th hole is situated in the ravine itself, the tee on one side, green on the other –  a spectacular sight and devilishly challenging for the most accomplished golfer.

If you are in need of a bit of solace, after the course has finished its onslaught on you, the spa thermae experience could be for you.  A series of rooms at different temperatures, designed to relax and de-stress you, in readiness for all the fabulous treatments available, such as hot stone therapy and indian head massage.

This is a great all round resort offering top of the range golf and tennis amenities, combined with outstanding accommodation, a truly memorable break in a most beautiful part of Cyprus.
